Dr. Shakel Henson graduated from St. George’s University and has successfully completed Bachelors of Science in Medical Sciences, Doctor of Medicine and Masters in Public Health. Thereafter, she did a rotational internship at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital in St. Vincent prior to becoming a registered physician. Dr. Henson is pursuing a Master of Science in International Management with the University of Liverpool and teaches Histology, Embryology and Introduction to Clinical Medicine for the students of AUS from 2013.

Dr. Michael Kazachkov

Biochemistry and Genetics

Dr. Kazachkov has his PhD in Biochemistry from National Academy of Science and his M.Sc. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Kiev State University, both in Ukraine.

Dr. Kazachkov had been associated with University of Saskatchewan, School of Medicine since 2003, where he accomplished his postdoctoral training program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and since 2007 he had joined the National Research Council of Canada as a Research Associate. His duties included scientific research and teaching responsibilities. His research focused on variety of targets including Alzheimer and Parkinson diseases, cyanogenesis in high plants, phospholipids biosynthesis and turnover. Dr. Kazachkov also has been heavily involved with various international scientific plant biotechnology projects including the Increasing Brassica Oil Content (IBOC), Industrial crops producing added value oils for novel chemicals (ICON) and Total Utilization Flax Genomics (TUFGEN) projects. As a professor in medical biochemistry he is associated with the American University of St. Vincent, School of Medicine. Dr. Kazachkov has over twenty published manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.

Besides scientific research and teaching, Dr. Kazachkov enjoys scuba diving, photography and hiking.

Dr. Bary Aussi

Dr. Bary Aussi is a medical graduate from Damascus University, Syria. He also completed his Post Graduation in General surgery from Tishreen Military hospital, Syria. Dr. Aussi finished a one year program on Plastic surgery at the National Hospital of Homs in Syria and completed his research on Recurrent Thyroidectomy. Post his relocation to St Vincent and the Grenadines in the year 2008, he established himself as a well-known general surgeon at the Milton Cato Government Hospital. He is teaching Human Anatomy for AUS students from 2012.

She joined the Medicine profession as one of the youngest MDs ever registered with the Medical Council of India. Dr Lokitha mentors Anatomy & Physiology and Medical Terminology for Premed Students  and Course director for DIT course training.

Dr. Ratna Perikala, MD was a Graduate of  Guntur Medical College, Nagarjuna University, Andra Pradesh, India.

He did his Residency in Anesthesiology at Guntur General Hospital.

He worked as a Research Associate in Sleep Medicine. VA Hospital, Houston, Texas.

He Was a Anatomy and Physiology Text Book Reviewer.

Now Working as an Assistant Professor of Physiology at American University of St.Vincent school of Medicine.

He has more than 20 yrs of teaching experience in teaching General Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmacy, Micro Biology, Nutrition, and Medical Terminology in Houston, Texas.

Prior to that he worked for 5 yrs as an Assistant Professor Pharmacology, Pathology, Biochemistry, and Embryology in Spartan Health Sciences University School of Medicine, St Lucia, West Indies.

Dr. Phani Kumar was awarded the MD degree from RANGARAYA MEDICAL COLLEGE, ANDHRA PRADESH, INDIA in 2007. Served as a clinician in his hometown for 18 months. He was a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Pharmacology at St. George's University and Clinical Skills from 2009 to 2011 and as clinical instructor at Trinity School of Medicine in 2011-2012. Completed two years of Residency training in Internal Medicine at West Virginia University, Charleston, WV during the year 2012 -2014. Currently teaching Neuroscience and Microbiology & Immunology Courses to the students of American University of Saint Vincent. He also contributing his services in teaching Physical Diagnosis with other faculty. Loves to play Cricket.

Dr. Ronald Child completed his MD at the University of Havana in the year 1989. He has a vast experience in the medical field working as a professor and also as a medical officer. He got registered at the Medical council of Jamaica in the year 1996. He is currently working as a Clinical Instructor and also as a Consultant Surgical Pathologist at the Milton Cato Hospital.  He is an active member of the Jamaica Association of Clinical Pathologists and as a PRO at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Medical Association. He has given presentations in many countries such as Trinidad, Japan and at SVG. He is part time professor at AUS teaching the fourth semester students Pathology II.

Dr. Rajesh Rawal, an MBBS graduate from Rajiv Gandhi Medical College, India. He did his research on ACE inhibitor study, Diastolic heart failure and pre-operative urinalysis study at Ochsner Clinic Foundation, New Orleans Louisiana in the year 2012. He is also registered practitioner at the Maharashtra Medical Council in India. He has a vast clinical and teaching experience in India as well as in USA. He teaches Behavioral Sciences and Pharmacology for students of AUS from 2013.

Dr. Dommalur Jayarangaiah

Dr.Dommalur Jayarangaiah  has got his MBBS degree from GOVT MEDICAL COLLEGE BELLARY GULBARGA UNIVERSITY IN 1986.He has completed his postgraduate degree in Internal medicine in 1990 from Bangalore medical college  Rajiv Gandhi university Bangalore. He was the best outgoing student in MD with university Gold Medal.

 

He has worked as ESI MEDICAL OFFICER in Bangalore for one year. In 1991 joined Sri Devaraj urs medical college Kolar affiliated to MEDICAL COUNCIL OF INDIA worked till 1999 as ASSOCIATE Professor of medicine. Late 1999 he joined as the consultant physician and Head of the dept of medicine at MILTON CATO MEMORIAL HOSPITAL St Vincent and the Grenadines. He was clinical Prof of medicine Kingstown medical college affiliated to ST GEOGRGIA UNIVERSITY till 2008. From 2009 joined TRINITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE to 2014 worked as a clinical Prof of medicine. From July 2014 became Dean of AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF ST VINCENT MEDICAL SCHOOL. During the course of his career he was actively involved in actively involved in the academic activities CME Programs published case reports In addition he taught student of elective clinical rotations from UK, NEW ZEALAND,GERMANY,AUSTRALIA and West Indies university. He is also well versed with the USMLE curriculum.
